Fundraisers
Free, koha, and paid tickets for New Zealand fundraisers
Hospice galas, club days, and school fairs mix comps, family tickets, and a proper paid table. One event can carry all three without a second tool.

A Christchurch hospice concert and a Hamilton club day look different, but the ticketing problem is the same: some people pay, some are guests, some show up at the door with cash. If those sit in three spreadsheets, the door cannot tell who is who.
Use ticket types, not side channels
- Paid tables or GA online through Stripe.
- $0 Guest / Comp for sponsors and crew, with a tight quantity.
- Pay at the door for the people who always arrive with an envelope.
Scanning an unpaid door ticket shows payment due. Mark it paid when you take cash or EFTPOS, then scan again. Comps check in like any other QR. That is cleaner than a clipboard labelled “VIP.”
Tell donors what happens to the money
Payouts land in the trust or club Stripe account. Put the refund policy on the page. If you cancel, buyers are emailed; you still process refunds from Orders. Material changes to time or venue also email attendees — useful when the hall double-books.
Fundraisers lose trust at the door, not on the stage. A scannable ticket is the cheapest way to look like you meant it.
