Stripe payouts for NZ event organisers: when the money actually lands
Ticket funds go to your connected Stripe account, not into a platform wallet until after the show. Here is what that means for New Zealand banks and refunds.

Organisers in New Zealand are used to platforms that sit on ticket money until the event ends. Million Tickets does not hold your sales in escrow. Paid tickets check out through Stripe Connect into the account you verify. Payout timing is Stripe’s rolling schedule to your NZ bank — often a day or two, not a week after load-out.
Connect before you publish paid tickets
If any live ticket is paid online, publish waits on Stripe. Free and pay-at-the-door types can go live without it. If you disconnect Stripe later, card checkout stops; free and on-site tickets keep selling.
Fees and refunds
The public price is a flat platform fee per paid ticket plus Stripe processing. Free tickets are $0 from us. Refunds leave from the order in your dashboard, back to the buyer’s card. You can refund only, or fully refund and restock so those tickets can sell again — including assigned seats when they are still valid.
- Write a refund policy buyers see before they pay.
- Partial refunds do not restock inventory.
- Support will not refund on your behalf; the charge sits on your Stripe account.
What to tell your committee
Show them Payments in the dashboard and the Stripe payout calendar. For a PTA or trust, that is clearer than “the platform will settle sometime after the gala.” Card declines happen before money moves — no ticket is issued, so it is a bank conversation, not missing inventory.
If the treasurer can see payouts in Stripe, you have already answered the question every NZ committee asks first.
